A campaign called ‘Do Your Homework’ was launched by the ASPS to educate patients on the questions they should be asking and things to consider when contemplating cosmetic and plastic surgery. There are many examples of plastic revision surgery by an ASPS Member Surgeon to correct a botched breast augmentation procedure performed by a non-plastic surgeon. The ASPS warns that physicians without specialized training may market themselves as cosmetic surgeons and any physician can wear a white coat but not all physicians are board-certified in plastic surgery.
Plastic surgery encompasses both cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. ASPS Member Surgeons are trained, experienced and qualified to perform both cosmetic and reconstructive procedures on the face and all areas of the body. Because many cosmetic procedures are rooted in reconstructive plastic surgery, ASPS Member Surgeons are uniquely qualified to handle your cosmetic needs.
